The 3.5e Tabletop Market Has Been Waiting for This

Fyndovn VTT is a working, browser-based Virtual Tabletop purpose-built for D&D 3.5e — with a backend AI assistant that makes the rules and world legible to new players, and an original world that ships ready to play. We're raising to bring it to market through Kickstarter, and we're open to the right early allies.

The Opportunity

A Dedicated Community, Underserved by Every Major Tool

D&D 3.5e supports one of the most loyal player bases in tabletop history — yet every major VTT (Roll20, Foundry, Owlbear Rodeo) is system-agnostic, forcing those players to hunt down and configure community modules just to play. None ship a world. None help a new player actually understand the rules. The result: dedicated groups spend more time fighting their tools than playing.

Fyndovn closes that gap with a deliberately opinionated product: 3.5e is the native tongue, a backend AI assistant makes the archives and rules legible to new players, and an original dark-magitech world — Fyndovn — is loaded on day one. It's the platform that was always supposed to exist for this audience.

The Market Gap

  • System-agnostic VTTs require heavy 3.5e configuration
  • No AI help for understanding the rules or lore
  • No bundled world, lore, maps, or NPC voices
  • $50 base cost, no free tier; one license = one campaign
  • VTT and voice chat live in separate windows

Fyndovn's Wedge

  • 3.5e-native sheets, classes, skills, and mechanics
  • Free AI assistant that makes the archives and rules legible to new players
  • Ships with the Fyndovn world fully loaded
  • Players free; one GM license hosts unlimited campaigns
  • Runs embedded inside Discord, where groups already gather
De-Risked — It Already Runs

This Isn't a Pitch Deck. It's a Product.

The core platform is built and playable today — reached on near-zero capital through AI-assisted development. That proves the hard parts: the product works, the UX lands, and the demand is real. What it isn't yet is a production-hardened codebase built by a seasoned engineering team — and that is exactly what this raise funds. The riskiest question in any startup, "will anyone actually want this?", is already answered.

3.5e Character System

SRD-tied generator with accurate classes, skills, saves, and ability scores; server-side persistence and validation.

Live

AI Archive Assistant

A backend helper — not an AI GM — that re-frames archive and world-wiki entries for a player's class and race, and relays answers between GM and players. Configurable AI provider/model.

Live

3D Dice + Cosmetics Pipeline

The WebGL dice engine and drop-in skin pipeline are live, with six UI themes and the Founder Broadcast mechanic. The 12 Founder skins and remaining die shapes are in active modeling.

The Model

Kickstarter-Led, Lifetime Licenses, World-Native Tiers

The launch runs on a Kickstarter with backer tiers named as ranks within the world's arcane guilds. The base tabletop — including the AI archive assistant — is free for every player. Revenue comes from premium cosmetics (UI themes, dice skins), Founder status, GM hosting licenses, and one physical tier. Every backer earns permanent Founder status with at least one Founder benefit.

The Initiate$25Founder status, 1 Founder Dice + premium theme, name in credits, Discord
Guild Member$60Founder status, 3 Founder Dice, premium themes, Founder Broadcast
Master Architect$120Lifetime GM hosting license, all 12 dice + all themes, crit effects, beta
The High Magister$300Everything above + manufactured metal dice in engraved vault + dev session

Margins & Risk Posture

Digital-First Margins, One Costed Physical Tier

The bulk of the model is high-margin digital — licenses and cosmetics with near-zero marginal cost. The only physical exposure is the High Magister dice set, which has been researched end-to-end. Estimated landed cost is ~$22–$63 per High Magister backer (before Kickstarter's ~8–10% fees), against a $300 tier — with a planned minimum-backer threshold before any tooling is committed, so physical fulfillment can't become a loss leader.

Revenue Streams, Ranked by Legal Safety

Safest

Original IP & cosmetics — the Fyndovn world, UI themes, dice skins, and physical merch are wholly owned StarFyre property.

Safe

Software licenses — lifetime GM licenses for the VTT engine itself, independent of any game-system content.

Managed

Open-license game content — operated under appropriate open licenses with full attribution and an audited product-identity boundary.

Upside

Official partnership pathway - a phased route toward an official VTT partnership, with parallel tracks as leverage and fallback.

Use of Funds

Where Early Capital Goes

The first and largest priority is people: hiring the experienced engineering talent to turn a validated, AI-built prototype into production-grade, scalable software. From there, capital de-risks the campaign itself — a polished build, a marketed launch, and a warm community convert dramatically better than a cold start.

The Team

Built by StarFyre Software

Kella Roberts

Product Lead · Co-Owner

Product lead, designer, and published author. With no formal engineering background, she designed and built the working Fyndovn VTT — its UX, 3.5e systems, and full feature set — through AI-assisted development, validating the entire product in roughly 2.5 weeks. Her first priority with funding is hiring the experienced engineers to take it to production.

Joshua Kidwell

Creator of Fyndovn · Co-Owner

Original author and worldbuilder of the Fyndovn IP — the lore, factions, districts, and the living-world philosophy the entire platform is built to serve. The world came first; the tools exist to run it.

Next Hires

An experienced engineering team — backend, real-time / WebSocket, and WebGL specialists to take the validated prototype to production. This is the first and primary use of funds.

The Ask

Get In Before the Gate Opens

We're inviting a small number of angel investors and strategic partners to join ahead of the Kickstarter. If you know this market — or simply believe dedicated 3.5e tables deserve a real home — let's talk. We'll share the full financial model, build access, and roadmap under NDA.
